Why Your Landing Page Isn't Converting (And Two Things Worth Checking First)

A beautiful website isn't necessarily a website that converts.

When someone lands on your page for the first time, they should be able to understand what you offer, who it's for, and what they should do next without having to work for it.

Here are two simple things worth checking.

1. Make your value proposition obvious

Your hero section is often the first — and sometimes the only — part of your website a visitor sees.

Ask yourself:

Could someone who has never heard of your business understand what you offer within a few seconds?

Your headline should focus on the value you provide rather than simply describing your product. Your supporting text can then clarify the problem you solve and who you solve it for.

If visitors have to scroll or read several sections before understanding why your product matters, you may be losing them before they ever reach your CTA.

2. Give your visitors one clear next step

A page can have great content and still create friction if it asks visitors to do too many things.

Too many competing actions can make the main conversion goal less obvious.

Identify the one action that matters most for the page and make sure your visual hierarchy and copy support it.

The right CTA depends on your audience and your goal — there isn't a single CTA that works for every website.
